Sanctuary Groups (Small Groups) Ministry
The backbone of a vibrant church community, the place where Christian education and relationships are fostered most effectively, is within its system of small groups. These are venues where people are more likely to be vulnerable with one another and invest more personally in one another’s lives. Great care and intentionality is needed to develop a system of small groups that meets the needs of the people and yet keeps them moving in the direction of holiness and maturity. This ministry has a strong love for people and an ability to coach others in working with people, too. Specific responsibilites of this ministry include:
- Developing a network of small groups for people in the class to take part in. This network should include a variety of topics and be able to accommodate numerous schedules. It should also account for the many children the families of our class have.
- Developing a long-term plan for rotating groups and topics.
- Researching new topics and structures for small groups.
- Shepherding, supporting, and training small group leaders.
- Troubleshooting issues within the small groups, whether interpersonal or organizational (in conjunction with the Teacher/s and Pastor/s).
