One of the great truths in our relationship with Christ and involvement in the Christian community is that the journey never ends.  We continue to grow and mature, face new challenges, and become the man or woman God intends us to be throughout the whole of our existence until that one day when we see him face to face.  This means that we never stop learning, which is why Teachers and Pastors exist – to teach us continually.  The primary responsibility of the Pastor is to ensure that the community of the Refuge is being nourished by God’s Word and instructed in truth in order that this process of maturity continues to refine the class into ever more pure representations of Jesus in the world.  Some of these responsibilities are:

  • Preparing lessons for the weekly class on Sunday mornings.  This should be coordinated with the Lead Facilitators to ensure continuity.
  • Casting the vision and set the tone of the class.
  • Overseeing of the leadership structure and management of Leadership Team.
  • Helping to fill in the gaps in any other areas of the group’s life and ministry together.
  • Mentoring and advising of those in the class on an as needed basis.
  • Building a team that will coordinate the curriculum for the class.
  • Complying with the contract for Sunday School teachers at Denver First Church of the Nazarene.
